Duncan completed a PhD in Digital Signal Processing and Psychoacoustics at the IoSR, University of Surrey in 2010, and previously worked as an EPSRC-funded researcher in brain-computer music interfacing (BCMI) at the University of Plymouth, and as a research MCR (Wolfson College) and Music Technology Officer in the Faculty of Music at Oxford University.
At DC Labs, Duncan’s focus is audio and he has a particular interest in the use of AI and HCI to integrate sound and music in novel applications, including assistive technology. He is an editorial board member of Musicae Scientae (Sage), the Journal of Creative Music Systems, and the Encyclopedia of Computer Graphics and Games (Springer). He is currently co-editing a new volume on emotion in game soundtracking for Springer with Newton Lee.
