Sandra is a Senior Lecturer in Sound Design at the Department of Theatre, Film and Television with a background in physics, music and music technology.

Her research interests are highly interdisciplinary and include sound and music computing, sonic interaction design, auditory displays, interactive media, and generally sound applications in a variety of fields such as health, the creative industries, voice, etc.

She is currently the Deputy Director of the Centre for Chronic Diseases and Disorders (C2D2) of the University of York, funded by the Wellcome Trust and is currently curating the art exhibition ALIVE: art between life and science. It will exhibit the work from the six C2D2 artists in residence from December 2016 to April 2017. 

Recent projects include: the SCORe Project: Using Sonification to COmmunicate public health Risk data (Principal Investigator), and the EU Cost Action on Sonic Interaction Design (UK representative).
