Fight your Fears is a game that has been developed out of the DIG4IT project led by Dr Lina Gega, Health Sciences, University of York.
Our aim was to make multi-platform digital games that tackle common mental health problems in children and young people based on the research done by Lina and her team with support from leading children's charities and support services.
There are over 1M children and young people who are not receiving support for mental health issues in the UK alone. The intention of the game is to allow the player, with peer-support, to self-identify their problems and then select and train fitting behavioural techniques to enable awareness and coping mechanisms when confronted with the trigger emotions.
DIG4IT: Digital Intervention Games for Implementing Therapy with Children and Young People Experiencing Common Emotional Problems was originally funded by the Wellcome Trust through the Centre for Future Health at the University of York.
The DC Labs’ research and software development led by Dr Sebastian Deterding enabled the creation and design of the game, Fight your fears.
