Dr Toby Pillatt

Research Associate in Digital Heritage
Department of Archaeology
University of York

Toby works at the interstices of archaeology, design, HCI and heritage. His background is in landscape archaeology, and previous research includes the history of trees and woodlands, archaeologies of weather, the past and future of bees and beekeeping, and the transformative potential of researching community heritage.

He is currently working on the Discovering England’s Burial Spaces (DEBS) project, working with community groups to develop new tools and resources for burial space research and dissemination.

Outside of work, Toby is an avid fan of the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team and enjoys singing with Purple Cats Community Choir.
