Prof Damian Murphy

Damian Murphy is a leading researcher in Audio and Music Technology, with his work on virtual acoustics, auralisation and audio signal processing placing him in over a hundred leading journals and conferences. His creative work has appeared in both galleries and festivals of international reputation. These specialisms combine in his role as the University of York’s Research Theme Champion for Creativity.

Damian is at the forefront of the DC Lab’s Creative Media for Theatre and Performance project, which aims to retell the story of York’s Theatre Royal using multi-media data capture technologies. This project will develop novel means of using this technology to enhance the live performance experience, from the perspective of both audience and performer, for this specific venue and for companies and venues more generally.
